- Meet Coordinator
- Directs and sets up the running of the competition
- Referee
- Follows all races on the ice
Has final say in all infractions at all times.
Usually has one or more assistant referees. - Starter
- Calls skaters to start
Starts race by firing gun, or blowing whistle.
Ensures that competitors have a fair start. - Clerk of the Course
- Lines skaters up several races in advanced to ensure that the meet runs smoothly & on time.
Requires cooperation of skaters to be ready. - Place Judge
- Checks skater numbers at start line.
Makes decision on skater placement as skaters cross the line. - Timers
- Using a stopwatch, record each skater's time in each distance.
- Lap Recorder
- Keeps track of how many laps are left to skate for each skater in each race.
Only needs to show remaining laps for the first skater. - Coach
- Each club has a coach in a specifically designated area
Only the coach may approach the Referee on behalf of the skater.
